PRE-HISPANIC ROAD-EL CHORO
The pre-Hispanic Choro road formerly served to exchange products from the lowlands with the La Paz highlands; Now it is traveled by countless visitors seeking adventure never before experienced.
The route has an extension of 70 km. The degree of difficulty merits three days of walking, offering beautiful landscapes and passing through different ecological floors that open the door to reaching the warm lands of the Yungas.
FIRST DAY.- La Paz – Summit – Challapampa
8:30 am, Departure from the Titicaca office heading to the summit (4670 m.a.s.l.) at 9:30 a.m. Beginning of the walk towards the Apacheta (highest place on the walk), where you can fully appreciate the Real Cordillera de los Andes and its imposing snow-capped peaks.
During the tour we will pass through the “CHUCURA” apacheta 4900 meters above sea level. In this place a challah is made to the Pachamama to ask for her permission and blessing.
Arrival at the town of Churura (rest) 3600 meters above sea level, at 1:00 p.m., where you will have lunch. After that, the walk restarts until reaching the entrance to the Cotapata National Park, where the entrance fee is paid. Approx. At 5:30 p.m. you will arrive at the town of Challapampa where you will have dinner and the first night of the night.
SECOND DAY .- Challapampa – San Francisco
In the morning we will have breakfast and continue the walk towards the town of Choro. At mid-morning there will be a short break accompanied by refreshments.
Approximately, at 1:00 p.m. we arrive at the town of Buenavista, where we will have lunch, and then continue with the walk to Cabaña de San Francisco, where we will camp to spend the second night. This place has a panoramic view of the places in the Yungueña area.
THIRD DAY.- San Francisco – Chairo – Coroico
Starting at 7:00 a.m. We will have breakfast and restart the walk towards the town of El Chairo at approximately 10:00 a.m. We arrive at a cabin known as the Japanese House located in Sandilani, where we have a snack prepared. After noon we arrive in Cairo, where the tour ends and where we will have a well-deserved rest and refreshing drinks.
